Minister Charlie L. Holley's teenage son, Torrell, suddenly collapsed from cardiac
arrest while on his last day of basketball tryouts—passing away only moments
later. He was only thirteen years old. The autopsy attributed the collapse to a
rare heart condition called ARVD.
Chritians at the time, Charlie and his wife Cassandra struggled with depression, anxiety, fear, and their faith. Drowning in depression and feeling angry with God, Charlie began to write as a way of expressing his struggles. His first book, “When Flowers Fade”, about the death of his son, was chosen for review by the publisher Brentwood Christian Press of GA. He has since written several inspirational books: Forgiveness: Walk Me Through It, The God of My Midnights, Lord, Fix My Leaks,"Inspirations From the Scriptures," and several E-books.
CL Holley has a compelling life story. He was born into extreme poverty in a rural county in Alabama. As the tenth son of a sharecropper and maid, he excelled and overcame many obstacles to become the first in his family to graduate from college—graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration from UAH. He continued his education by graduating from Heritage Bible College with a Master of Biblical Counseling.
Four years after the tragedy, the Lord
transformed his grief, depression, and anger into a powerful comfort and
encouragement ministry. The mission statement is “To give beauty for ashes, the
oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
(Isa 61:3) Now, Minister Holley travels throughout the U.S. sharing his inspirational testimony and his books with the goal to comfort and encourage others.
Minister Holley is a dynamic speaker gifted to
